ADAS are a variety of built-in safety features that are present in a lot of new vehicles for example; emergency braking, lane departure warnings, lane assist and adaptive cruise control.
As advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) have become more commonplace on all kinds of vehicles, and as the number and complexity of ADAS systems on a vehicle only increase, calibrations are here to stay.
ADAS features operate by relying on sensors that accurately and continuously monitor the vehicle’s surroundings – these sensors are therefore a vital safety element in any repair process.
ADAS sensors are very precisely aimed and must be re-calibrated if they are disturbed in any way, for example: after a crash (however minor), windscreen replacement, suspension repair or wheel alignment
Failure to calibrate or re-calibrate can result in steering wheel vibration, steering pull, unexpected and unwanted braking, lack of driver trust in their vehicle.
